On May 28, 1872, the Whiteside County Central Agricultural Society was formed in Morrison, Illinois. Its purpose was to promote all the industrial pursuits of the county, especially the agricultural, horticultural, floricultural, and mechanical interest as well as the fine arts and domestic manufacturers.
In its 144th year, the Whiteside County Fair opens the morning of Tuesday, August 12 and runs through the Saturday, August 16 grand finale. The fair includes a carnival, a petting zoo, and grandstand events including a tractor pull, harness racing, and the ever-popular demolition derby.
