    In an effort to create more family friendly events in our community, the Morrison Chamber of Commerce is organizing the first ever Back to School Bash on Saturday, August 1. This FREE, family event will be held from 2-4 p.m. in the blue building at the Whiteside County Fairgrounds in Morrison, and a collection for school supplies will be taken at the door for the United Way of Whiteside County Back to School Supply Drive. These supplies will be distributed throughout Morrison Schools. Exhibitor booths featuring many Chamber of Commerce members will be open during the event, and each exhibitor will have a hands-on activity or game for participants, as well as information about their business[...]

    Below please find a link to a Bulletin from the Department of Revenue regarding new Sales Tax effective July 1, 2015. The Department of Revenue sent either a hard copy letter or an email to retailers reminding them of the change. We have heard some of these emails are ending up in the Junk Folder or being flagged as Spam. Please review the contents of your email for this notice. A business's accounting firm may have received the notice if the accounting firm is generally the main contact with the state. The Morrison Chamber of Commerce is proud to host the 5th Annual Morrison Community Recycling Day, scheduled for Saturday, June 6, 2015 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 649 W. Lincolnway, behind KAS eRecycling/Stralows.     On Wednesday, April 15, 2015, the Morrison Chamber of Commerce presented its Customer Service Award to Ed Karvelius, owner of D & K Geothermal, 12503 Crosby Road, Morrison, IL. Ed was nominated for "going above and beyond helping someone in need," to repair equipment he had not installed, not because nice is easy, but because nice matters.     On Wednesday, March 18, 2015, Morrison Chamber of Commerce presented its Customer Service Award to Beth Ronnaw, Sales and Service Associate of the U. S. Postal Service, 226 W. Main Street, Morrison, IL.  Ronnaw joined the Postal Service in October 1992 and worked in Erie, IL.  She was transferred to the Morrison office in April 2012. Ronnaw was nominated for "going above and beyond helping someone in need," not because nice is easy, but because nice matters.     • The Whiteside Forum hosts a panel discussion on "Mass Media in Modern Society: Local News and Issues" on Thursday, January 22 beginning at 6:30 p.m. at Odell Public Library, 307 S. Madison Street in Morrison, IL. The program is free and open to the public.
    • Reserve your seats now for the Morrison Chamber of Commerce Dinner and Annual Meeting on Thursday evening, February 5. The entertainment for the night is the interactive comedy-mystery troupe, It’s a Mystery! The professional actors will transport attendees to a mafia wedding with their presentation of “Whacked at da Wedding.” Join in the fun or sit back and watch the antics. Tickets are $35 per person and include a delicious buffet dinner and the entertainment. The event is open to Chamber members and guests and will be held at Cross Creek Golf Course.     • The Chamber awarded two people Customer Service Awards yesterday: Kaywyn Beswick, with the Morrison Friends Food Pantry, and Carmen Church, owner of Design Line Connection hair salon. Kaywyn was nominated for “going above and beyond to help others in the community, having so much energy all the time and inspiring others to lend a helping hand.” Carmen was nominated for “accommodating her clients’ needs and traveling to their homes on occasion, and always being so bright and bubbly.” Congratulations on your awards earned, “not because nice is easy, but because nice matters!”
