    On Wednesday, April 15, 2015, the Morrison Chamber of Commerce presented its Customer Service Award to Ed Karvelius, owner of D & K Geothermal, 12503 Crosby Road, Morrison, IL. Ed was nominated for "going above and beyond helping someone in need," to repair equipment he had not installed, not because nice is easy, but because nice matters.     On Wednesday, March 18, 2015, Morrison Chamber of Commerce presented its Customer Service Award to Beth Ronnaw, Sales and Service Associate of the U. S. Postal Service, 226 W. Main Street, Morrison, IL.  Ronnaw joined the Postal Service in October 1992 and worked in Erie, IL.  She was transferred to the Morrison office in April 2012. Ronnaw was nominated for "going above and beyond helping someone in need," not because nice is easy, but because nice matters.     Rebecca Green's superior employment reputation preceded her.  She begins a dynamic, part-time position in Morrison, IL, on Tuesday, March 17, 2015.  At that time Chamber of Commerce office hours will be Tuesday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. "I am very excited to share with you," stated Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Kim Ewoldsen, "we have hired Rebecca Green, as the new Marketing and Customer Relations Manager for the Morrison Chamber of Commerce. Rebecca brings a tremendous amount of skill and talent in creating brochures, newsletters, updating website and social media sites, and more.  She is excited to get more involved in the Community and is very eager to start. Sh[...]

    Morrison Chamber of Commerce members executed a Cash Mob hit on Happy Joe's, 109 W. Main Street, Morrison, IL, on Saturday, February 28, 2015.  The Cash Mob began at 11:00 a.m. with five Chamber members and five children.     February 27, 2015, with it's snow cover and single-digit temperatures, was reminiscent of the Chamber Christmas Walk of Saturday, December 6, 2014.  Two members of the Christmas Walk Committee, Nancy Anderson and Stephanie Vavra, and Chamber Executive Director Kim Ewoldsen met at Morrison High School, 643 Genesee Avenue, Morrison, IL to thank student participants in the Christmas Walk.  The women did that with multicolored ice cream cupcakes--embellished with special caramel centers--from DQ Grill & Chill, 200 N.     • The Whiteside Forum hosts a panel discussion on "Mass Media in Modern Society: Local News and Issues" on Thursday, January 22 beginning at 6:30 p.m. at Odell Public Library, 307 S. Madison Street in Morrison, IL. The program is free and open to the public.
    • Reserve your seats now for the Morrison Chamber of Commerce Dinner and Annual Meeting on Thursday evening, February 5. The entertainment for the night is the interactive comedy-mystery troupe, It’s a Mystery! The professional actors will transport attendees to a mafia wedding with their presentation of “Whacked at da Wedding.” Join in the fun or sit back and watch the antics. Tickets are $35 per person and include a delicious buffet dinner and the entertainment. The event is open to Chamber members and guests and will be held at Cross Creek Golf Course.     • The Chamber awarded two people Customer Service Awards yesterday: Kaywyn Beswick, with the Morrison Friends Food Pantry, and Carmen Church, owner of Design Line Connection hair salon. Kaywyn was nominated for “going above and beyond to help others in the community, having so much energy all the time and inspiring others to lend a helping hand.” Carmen was nominated for “accommodating her clients’ needs and traveling to their homes on occasion, and always being so bright and bubbly.” Congratulations on your awards earned, “not because nice is easy, but because nice matters!”
