countryside-3Morrison is the county seat of Whiteside County, Illinois and has a population of 4,188.  Morrison is a rural, agricultural-based community, surrounded on all sides by rich farm and range land.  With vibrant schools and a volunteer spirit, the community takes great pride in the education of their children.  Its small-town ambiance of tree-lined streets and stately homes, invite you to come for a visit, to work, or to live.

 

The city is located at the intersection of the Historic Lincoln Highway (US Route 30) and Illinois Route 78.  The Lincoln Highway is historically significant as the nation’s first transcontinental highway and in Morrison was the site of two concrete seedling miles, which served as prototypes of what an improved highway could do for the nation. Morrison’s beautiful historic downtown contains some architectural legacies; stately reminders of the town’s pioneering heritage.
